Legend of Fog Woman Totem Pole
Raven and his two men were out to sea fishing when all of a sudden they were surrounded by a thick fog. They drifted in their canoe until out of the fog appeared a beautiful woman on their bow. She said she would take them to her village where they would be safe. Soon, Raven falls in love with Fog Woman. They are happy, their cooking pot is always full, which makes Raven very curious so he follows Fog Woman to the stream where he witnesses here swirl her hand in her cedar hat. Much to his surprise, out jump salmon, one right after the other. Raven wants Fog Woman to tell him how she does this, but it is a secret she will keep forever as she turns back into fog and drifts out to sea. She calls to Raven and lets him know that she will return salmon to the streams every year by way of her daughter, Creek Woman.
