Alaska Dancing Man Knives and Ulus DVD

This video documents the work and life of Maynard Linder, the artist behind Dancing Man Knives and Ulus.

His process of gathering materials takes place in remote Alaska, where shed antlers and bones are gathered in the summer to become knife handles in the winter. Each material used in the his knives, from reclaimed steel to bone, antler and horn, has a fascinating story in it's origins and qualities.

His knowledge of Ulus and the evolution of the Ulu design is displayed both with his own work and his collection of artifact knives from long lost Alaskan cultures.

This DVD also includes a useful demonstration of how different knives are used for food preparation.
