The “Eagle Eye” Experience
This eagle-shaped aurora swooped down on me in the Alaska Range near Cantwell, AK on November 4, 2021 at 2:50 am.
This northern lights display was the result of a huge CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) ejected from the sun. When this high-speed gust of solar wind impacted Earth, our magnetic field became super-charged. The result was some magnificent aurora shapes illuminating the sky above. This uplifting aerial maneuver was preserved with a 2-second camera exposure. The shape is for real and when I saw it, it made me want to soar!
