Fossil walrus ivory is found on Saint Lawrence Island, Alaska by the Yupik Eskimo people that inhabit the island. The fossil ivory tusks, teeth, oosiks, and bones have been preserved in the frozen, mineral rich soil for up to 2,500 years.
