Humpback Whale Bubble Net

Humpback Whale Bubble Net

Humpback Whale Bubble Net feeding photograph taken outside of Ketchikan, Alaska by Hamilton Gelhar. Humpback whales typically migrate up to 16,000 miles each year. Humpbacks feed only in summer, in polar waters, and migrate to tropical or subtropical waters to breed and give birth in the winter. Their diet consists mostly of krill and small fish. Humpback whales rise in tandem to gobble up a school of fish after blowing bubbles to trap them just under the surface
